So what's going on in the world of tactics games this month? Let's take a look.
SideQuest Studios, the developer responsible for the shoot em up Soldner X-2: Final Prototype has announced a new SRPG titled Rainbow Moon. This one sounds like a winner as Soldner X-2 was a fairly solid shoot em up with a good scoring system and balanced combat.
Daisenryaku Perfect announced for PS3 and 360. This seems to be an enhanced port of the PC and PSP versions. Daisenryaku is indisputably the console tactics series with the most depth. Just one look at the hundreds of unit types, dozens of nations, multitudes of combat variables, etc. should be enough to convince you.
Queen's Gate, which I think is some kind of sequel to Queen's Blade, was announced for PSP. Once again it's a perverted SRPG by the Namco-Bandai development team.
Devil Survivor 2 has been announced. It looks to play very similar to the original Devil Survivor.
Great Little War Game announced for iPhone. Similar to Advance Wars or UniWar, with added line of sight, etc.
Hunters: Episode 1 for iPhone is out soon. It looks similar to Jagged Alliance.
Field of Glory: Legions Triumphant is out. This is another entry in the well done historical simulation Field of Glory series for PC.
Footage of Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars for 3DS. Designed by Julian Gollop, creator of the original X-Com series.
More details on Gungnir, the Sting developed SRPG. The same developers that created Yggdra Union and Knights in the Nightmare.
I've been playing Tactics Ogre for PSP. I don't really like it, unfortunately. There's no way to skip the combat animations, making the pacing execrably slow to me. It's a simple, boring game where almost every mission is completed by dumping TP skills onto a boss while negating their TP skills so your units don't get one shot. And it heavily encourages grinding if you want to use the new classes given to you throughout the game. Not my type of game at all. I've played up to mid-chapter 4, law route while doing no grinding, fleeing from all random battles, no incapacitations, and no autosaves.

Some interesting new content here! I've definitely got to get back to srpgs soon. Too busy with work and Kirby Pinball Land lately.
Any new quality production from the X-Com team is good news! Tactics Ogre didn't grab me either. I think I have played that game to death in its first incarnation.
Play-Asia is having a brief 20% off sale, and I found Fire Emblem for Gamecube. Pretty nice! Matt, do you recall off the top of your head whether you have to play through normal to get to hard mode? Sorry if I asked you this before.
I'm reading that Shadow Wars is a decent tactics game. From the reviews I've read it's probably an easy game.
Ganson, you don't need to play normal to unlock hard.
